Playtesting Notes


Things to finalize:

  • New name that matches gameplay (Change to BoB, Bountiful or Barren)
  • Illustrated game board and icons
  • Character sheets
  • Game rule book
  • Icons

General Notes:

  • Game was overall fun for everyone
  • Everyone was able to understand how the game works (Needs to be tested to see if the average person can understand on their own based on a rule book)
  • It is good to have one player be a semi-GM, that facilitates the rules and everyone’s roles (Needs to be tested how efficient a game can run without any main facilitators
  • Players will be pushed off the board if they have lost a challenge and don’t own another planet to themselves, otherwise they will be returned back onto their last planet they own.
  • The player motivations dictated by card suits weren’t followed that precisely (Spades for aggression, clubs for peaceful expansion, diamond for profit, heart for conservation. We may remove this feature 
  • When players draw a card to challenge, we only looked at the numbers to compare the value, and the suits and colour had no purpose, when it probably shouldn’t be ignored
  • May be given a recommendation/option in game rules to have one person draw cards for everyone

Improvements:

  • Need a distinct marker on the game board for which planets can still be challenged 
  • The value of a planet can be marked down by each person themselves on the character sheet. The little suit symbols can be more transparent so a number can be written on top that is legible that represents the value of the card they drew on the planet
  • May remove spaceship design on the character sheet 
  • May need to improve gameplay for those who want to play physically using a chess board
